PT TRAINING - BEN SQUATS
SINCE THE START OF THE YEAR
I decided to focus my mind on strength over beauty. I personally love powerlifting but having the energy to deadlift, bench press and squat requires a great deal of calories. Having suffered from obesity in the past, whenever I start to gain a little extra fat, I usually panic and trim down. Unfortunately with a calorie deficit comes a loss of strength. For some clients, a deficit is required and muscle maintenance can still be achieved, or nearly achieved, whilst fat is lost. For myself, I need to accept that as well as muscle gain I will gain a bit of fat as the big 3 lifts increase. My aims for the year are to squat 160kg, bench 100kg and deadlift 180kg. By identifying where the stability, flexibility and strength issues are in my squat, I’ve developed my absolute strength and form. By the end of the year I hope to start competing. Watch this space!
